Softball Game Preview: Northwestern Lehigh Tigers vs. Jim Thorpe Olympians

The Northwestern Lehigh Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Jim Thorpe Olympians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northwestern Lehigh has 14 straight victories, Jim Thorpe has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Northwestern Lehigh is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 25-2 margin over Catasauqua on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Jim Thorpe was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They lost 13-2 to Palmerton. That's two games in a row now that the Olympians have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Northwestern Lehigh's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Jim Thorpe, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Northwestern Lehigh beat Jim Thorpe 4-1 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
