Softball Game Preview: Columbia River Rapids vs. R.A. Long Lumberjacks

The Columbia River Rapids will venture away from home to challenge the R.A. Long Lumberjacks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Columbia River has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Columbia River after they put the first runs on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 13-5 to Woodland.

Haley Corona and Emily Hull stepped up to the plate in a big way. Corona went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple, while Hull went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Brooklyn Vickery also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, R.A. Long was a bit more limited in their game last Friday. They came up short against Kelso, falling 11-0. The loss continues a trend for the Lumberjacks in their meetings with the Hilanders: they've now lost nine in a row.

Columbia River now has a losing record of 2-3. As for R.A. Long, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-1.

Everything went Columbia River's way against R.A. Long in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Columbia River made off with a 14-0 win. Will the Rapids repeat their success, or do the Lumberjacks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
