Basketball Recap: Thunderridge Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, ThunderRidge couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They received a blow on Saturday as they fell 70-54 to the Eaglecrest Raptors. The Grizzlies' defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Eaglecrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Garrett Barger led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Barger continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Lucas Kalimba, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 13 points and eight rebounds.

ThunderRidge's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Eaglecrest, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 24-2.

ThunderRidge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eaglecrest, they will host Mountain Vista at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 26 matches -- so hopefully Eaglecrest likes a good challenge.
