Softball Recap: Butler Bulldogs vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Butler couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls on Tuesday. Butler has not had much luck with Hickory Ridge recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

For Hickory Ridge's part, Embler Kristyn made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Kristyn has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive pitching appearances. Kristyn was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Chloe Woodward was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Hickory Ridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.
