Baseball Recap: Walden Grove Comes Up Short

Walden Grove was the 11-1 winner over Sahuarita when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Wolves took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs on Thursday.

Javy Lopez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Walden Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alec Jimenez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Walden Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Sahuarita, their record now sits at 14-5-1.

Coming up, Walden Grove will face off against Eastmark at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Sahuarita, they will square off against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
