Basketball Recap: Sandhills Valley Triumphs

Sandhills Valley put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They pulled ahead with a 28-27 photo finish over the Sutherland Sailors. The Mavericks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Sailors, too.

Sandhills Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyle Kramer, who posted four points in addition to ten rebounds and four blocks. Kramer has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Leyton Connell, who had five points and nine steals.

Sutherland's loss came despite strong showings from Ethan Holm and Jackson Saner. Holm posted 11 points and six steals, while Saner put up four points in addition to nine boards and four steals. That's the most points Holm has posted since back in December of 2023.

Sandhills Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Sutherland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Sandhills Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-28 win against Arthur County on the 14th. Sutherland will take on Maywood/Hayes Center in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
