Softball Game Preview: Strongsville Mustangs vs. Normandy Invaders

Strongsville is a perfect 3-0 against Normandy since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will head out to take on the Invaders at 5:00 p.m. Neither Strongsville nor Normandy posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Thursday, Strongsville came up short against Olmsted Falls and fell 6-2.

Emma Hartman was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

North Olmsted hit Normandy with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Invaders lost 8-2 to the Eagles. The Invaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ava Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits.

At the plate, Lizzie Skidmore made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Strongsville has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Normandy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything went Strongsville's way against Normandy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Strongsville made off with an 11-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
