It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jefferson Forest had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Broad Run Spartans an 8-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Cavaliers sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
Jefferson Forest got a great performance from Amelia Long as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.1 innings pitched. Long has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ashleigh Johnson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Taya Hall, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Jefferson Forest pushed their record up to 20-1 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Broad Run, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.
