Preview: Archbishop Curley Friars vs. St. Mary's Saints
The Archbishop Curley Friars will head out on the road to face off against the St. Mary's Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary's took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Archbishop Curley, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Archbishop Curley took their game at home with ease, bagging a 44-7 victory over Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Archbishop Curley.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Curley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caron Madison, who rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Dylan Fish was in the mix as well, providing Archbishop Curley with three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's fell victim to Concordia Prep's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 21-0 walloping at the hands of the Saints. While losing is never fun, St. Mary's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Concordia Prep is ranked ninth).
Archbishop Curley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for St. Mary's, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Archbishop Curley ended up a good deal behind St. Mary's when the teams last played back in October of 2022, losing 22-3. Can Archbishop Curley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
