Softball Recap: Naperville North's Win Ends 11-Game Losing Streak at Home

Naperville North's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Metea Valley Mustangs by a score of 13-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was a revenge game for the Huskies: when they faced off against the Mustangs two weeks ago, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Gabi Chmiel made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sara Rossi was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Eliza Patterson, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Naperville North's win ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-15. As for Metea Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Naperville North will venture away from home to challenge Batavia at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Metea Valley, they will head out to square off against Naperville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
