Football Game Preview: Mt. Blue Cougars vs. Skowhegan River Hawks

The Mt. Blue Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Skowhegan River Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Blue hasn't scored more than seven points for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

On Friday, Mt. Blue was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 13-7 to Winthrop.

Skowhegan never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Brunswick on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 34-12 margin over the Dragons. The River Hawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Skowhegan moved to 2-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Mt. Blue, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Mt. Blue came up short against Skowhegan in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 20-8. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
