Preview: Homestead Broncos vs. McArthur Mustangs
The Homestead Broncos will look to defend their home field on Friday against the McArthur Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Homestead had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven two weeks ago. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 41-3 victory over Belen Jesuit. Given Homestead's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Belen Jesuit is ranked 170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Homestead's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from James Randle, who picked up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown. Joshua Townsend was another key contributor, throwing for 290 yards while completing 77.8% of his passes.
Meanwhile, McArthur blew past Boyd Anderson, posting a 45-7 victory on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for McArthur.
Homestead has yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 8-1 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 8-2 Columbus and 11-3 Jones (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.1% over those games). As for McArthur, they now have a winning record of 5-4-1.
