Baseball Recap: Clearwater Valley Takes Down Prairie in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Clearwater Valley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Prairie Pirates with a sharp 15-5 win on Wednesday. Considering the Rams have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carson Schilling was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Clearwater Valley is undefeated when Schilling posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Cameron Whitcomb was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Clearwater Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Clearwater Valley's fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Prairie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7.

As of now, neither Clearwater Valley nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
