Basketball Recap: High Plains Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

High Plains had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-53 win over the Osceola Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 62-37 last Tuesday.

High Plains' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rylee Ackerson led the charge by going 5-for-6 to rack up 16 points. What's more, Ackerson also posted a 83% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January. Gahvrielle Lesiak was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Recker, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards. Recker has become a key player for Osceola: the team is 10-5 when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 1-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Emersyn Prososki, who went 5-for-11 en route to 16 points.

High Plains pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points over those games. As for Osceola, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

As of now, neither High Plains nor Osceola have any future games scheduled.
