Soccer Game Preview: McConnellsburg vs. Windber

The McConnellsburg Spartans will take on the Windber Ramblers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as McConnellsburg comes in on 12 and Windber on seven.

McConnellsburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Everything went their way against North Star as they made off with a 5-1 victory. The result was nothing new for McConnellsburg, who have now won 13 matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Windber kept a clean sheet against Conemaugh Township on Monday. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 7-0 win. It was an even better day for Heather Carney as she scored three goals for her team.

McConnellsburg's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Windber, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.

McConnellsburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Windber when the teams last played back in September, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
