Softball Recap: Glen Rose Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Glen Rose, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Alvarado Indians on Monday by a score of 8-5 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2021.

Marki Sandlin made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Sandlin was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Glen Rose got a big performance out of Kitty Bell, who went a perfect3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklynne Yant, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Glen Rose was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alvarado only posted a batting average of .077.

Glen Rose's record now sits at 2-3. As for Alvarado, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Glen Rose and Alvarado's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Glen Rose and Godley (who has only given up 3.43 runs per game) will meet at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Alvarado will square off against Duncanville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, a squad that's only allowed 3.33 runs per game.
