Baseball Recap: Columbia Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It was a proper cat-fight when Columbia took on Caldwell on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Cougars. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Gabe Tanner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Columbia is 3-1 when Tanner posts two or more runs, but 2-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Harrison, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brody Springer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Columbia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Columbia's record is now 5-11. As for Caldwell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Columbia has already played their next matchup, a 9-0 win against Emmett on the 11th. As for Caldwell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-0 loss against Skyview on the 11th.
