Preview: Clyde Fliers vs. Lexington Minutemen
The Clyde Fliers will head out on the road to face off against the Lexington Minutemen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Clyde is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lexington in Ohio (Clyde is ranked 214th, while Lexington is ranked 551st).
Last Friday, Clyde was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-50 to Norwalk. Clyde has not had much luck with Norwalk recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Clyde got a solid performance out of Katie Shiets, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Shiets' sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, Lexington narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Madison Comprehensive 39-36. The victory was just what Lexington needed coming off of a 70-33 defeat in their prior matchup.
Clyde has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Lexington, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Clyde didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lexington when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 46-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clyde since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
