Softball Game Preview: Bradford Eagles vs. Riverview Raiders

The Bradford Eagles will head out to face off against the Riverview Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bradford knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Riverview likes a good challenge.

Bradford will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Cedar Ridge, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles came out on top against the Timberwolves by a score of 11-6 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Timberwolves on their field since March 12, 2020.

Meanwhile, Riverview fell victim to Bald Knob and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 16-0. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Raiders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Bradford has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Riverview, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything went Bradford's way against Riverview in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Bradford made off with a 17-3 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
