Soccer Recap: Towanda Comes Up Short

Towanda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Athens Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Towanda can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 525th, while Athens are ranked 148th).

Towanda's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Athens, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2-2.

Looking ahead, Towanda will head out to take on Montrose at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Towanda will be up against Montrose's rather soft defense (which has allowed three goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Athens, they will welcome Williamsport at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Williamsport's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
