Baseball Recap: Robertsdale's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Robertsdale entered their tilt with Tate on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Aggies.

Robertsdale got a great performance from Jackson Lyles as he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Lyles is becoming a predictor of Robertsdale's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 7-9 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayden Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kael Nielson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Robertsdale back to even at 11-11. As for Tate, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Robertsdale and Tate could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in their respective state rankings. Robertsdale (ranked 110th) will meet Fairhope (ranked 32nd) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Tate will face off against Gulf Breeze at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 93 places (127 vs. 34).
