Coffee County Central hasn't had much luck against Blackman recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Red Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Blaze at 1:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Coffee County Central's last matchup with Lincoln County could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Red Raiders came up short against the Falcons, falling 11-5. The Red Raiders' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Cole Pippenger made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Hillis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Blackman was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Oakland by a score of 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Andy Beveridge was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Andrew Monson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Blackman dropped their record down to 20-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Coffee County Central, their loss dropped their record down to 15-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Coffee County Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Blackman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Coffee County Central couldn't quite finish off Blackman in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
