Basketball Recap: Harlandale Comes Up Short

Harlandale fought the good fight in their overtime game against South San Antonio on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 73-72 to the South San Antonio Bobcats. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (70), the Indians still had to take the loss.

South San Antonio's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kevin Settles led the charge by going 8 of 17 on his way to 25 points. The dominant performance gave Settles a new career-high in points. Aidan Moran was another key player, going 6 for 12 en route to 19 points.

Harlandale's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for South San Antonio, they pushed their record up to 20-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Harlandale and South San Antonio should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Harlandale (ranked 383rd) will meet MacArthur (ranked 960th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, South San Antonio will take on Winn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 1,149 places (176 vs. 1325).
