Basketball Recap: Sierra Lutheran Comes Up Short

After flying high against Silver Stage last Wednesday, Sierra Lutheran came back down to earth. The Sierra Lutheran Falcons took a 37-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Wendover Wolverines on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-25 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Sierra Lutheran lost, don't look at Rukhsana Khan. Despite the final result, she posted nine points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Khan a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (67%).

Among those leading the charge was Savannah Jimenez, who had 15 points. Anaya Hernandez was another key player, putting up three points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Sierra Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for West Wendover, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Sierra Lutheran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-9 defeat against Battle Mountain on the 1st. As for West Wendover, they have also already played their next contest, a 53-20 win against Silver Stage on the 1st.
