Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Trinity

Trinity entered their tilt with Hayfork on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Timberjacks with a sharp 14-1 win. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Timberjacks, too.

Brynn Sommerfeld and Jessica Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sommerfeld struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Brown tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Sommerfeld got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Brown went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Brown a new career-high.

In other batting news, Raegan Millette and Adriana Seele did most of the damage at the plate: Millette got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Seele got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Millette has posted since back in March. Eva Ehlerding was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Trinity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Trinity's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Hayfork, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Trinity is taking a road trip to face off against Mt. Shasta at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hayfork, they will be playing at home against Plumas Charter at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
