Basketball Recap: Jay Royals vs. Paxton Bobcats
Jay won the last time they faced Paxton and things went their way on Saturday too. The Jay Royals took down the Paxton Bobcats 61-46. The Royals pushed the score to 47-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.
Jay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Presley Hawthorne led the charge by putting up ten points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aubreigh Nelson, who posted 20 points and seven boards.
Hawthorne wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Jay was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paxton only racked up six assists.
Paxton's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenzie Lassiter, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Carson, who put up six points.
