Emily Bogoski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Halle Bedwell was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sophie Carroll, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Christian Academy of Knoxville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West only posted a batting average of .045.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for William Blount, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bearden a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Governors have beaten the Bulldogs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.
Not much got past Katee Owens, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Bearden off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Merriman, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Trinity Johnson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Christian Academy of Knoxville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for William Blount, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
William Blount's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Christian Academy of Knoxville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .506. It's a different story for William Blount, though, as they've only averaged .324. Will they be able to contain Christian Academy of Knoxville's hitters?
