Football Preview: Northern Lebanon Vikings vs. Wyomissing Spartans

The Northern Lebanon Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Wyomissing Spartans at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Things were looking good for Northern Lebanon after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 22-21 to Delone Catholic. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bryan Mitzel, who rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 38 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards. Northern Lebanon also got a significant boost from Myles Watson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 94 yards.

Meanwhile, after only three points in their last match, Wyomissing made sure to put some points up on the board against Academy of the New Church on Friday. Wyomissing claimed a resounding 46-19 victory over Academy of the New Church on the road. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Lions are ranked 345th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northern Lebanon now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Wyomissing, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
