Basketball Recap: Lake Gibson Find Success

Lake Gibson won the last time they faced Newsome and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Lake Gibson Braves came out on top against the Newsome Wolves by a score of 68-57. The win almost wasn't to be: the Braves were down 36-22 in the second quarter.

Lake Gibson found their leader in sophomore A'Darrion Willis, who posted 32 points. Those 32 points gave Willis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Cottingham, who scored 14 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Lake Gibson and bumps their season record up to 7-13. As for Newsome, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Gibson has already played their next match (against Seffner Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Newsome will head out to take on Middleton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Newsome knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Middleton likes a good challenge.
