Recap: Grandview Wolves vs. Regis Jesuit Raiders
On Friday, the Grandview Wolves faced the Regis Jesuit Raiders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Grandview escaped with a win against Regis Jesuit by the margin of a single free throw, 53-52. That's another feather in the cap for Grandview, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Sienna Betts was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Grandview's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Chang, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Regis Jesuit lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jane Rumpf, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Coryn Watts, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
The win got Grandview back to even at 8-8. As for Regis Jesuit, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grandview won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Overland at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. Overland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Grandview is ranked eighth). As for Regis Jesuit, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Douglas County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Douglas County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
