Soccer Game Preview: South vs. Wachusett Regional

The South Colonels will venture away from home to face off against the Wachusett Regional Mountaineers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

On Wednesday, South had just enough and edged out Burncoat 4-3. South haven't had any issues with Burncoat recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Wachusett Regional hasn't lost a match since October 2nd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. They beat Marlborough by a goal, winning 3-2. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Wachusett Regional's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Marlborough are ranked 213th).

South's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6-2. As for Wachusett Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3-6.

South beat Wachusett Regional by a goal in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonels since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
