Basketball Recap: Nelsonville-York Triumphs

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Nelsonville-York ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They escaped with a win against the Athens Bulldogs by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buckeyes.

Briant Call continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. That's the most blocks he has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Lavy, who posted 11 points.

Nelsonville-York has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Athens, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Nelsonville-York didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-60 loss against Logan on the 25th. As for Athens, they will challenge Marietta at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
