Football Recap: Monarch Comes Up Short

If Monarch was riding high fresh off their 48-10 takedown of Deerfield Beach last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Knights and the Don Bosco Prep Ironmen didn't end well, with the Knights falling 38-21. The Knights gained 95 more yards on the day, but it was the Ironmen that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Monarch lost on Friday, don't look at Florentino Lopez. Despite the final result, he threw for 271 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground.

Don Bosco Prep can attribute much of their success to Carson Schoen, who threw for 104 yards and three TDs. Dante Deluca handled things on the ground, rushing for 81 yards.

Monarch now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Don Bosco Prep, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Monarch wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 34-20 victory against Seminole on the 12th. As for Don Bosco Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 28-0 win against St. Anthony's on the 13th.
