Leelynd Durbin Has Career-Day on Friday

Starting off the list is Flanagan/Woodland's Leelynd Durbin, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Durbin rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.

Flanagan/Woodland's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Durbin and Flanagan/Woodland will venture away from home to face off against Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Austin Nelson Turns in Season-Best Performance

On Friday, West Prairie/Southeastern got the W thanks in part to Austin Nelson playing the best football he has all season. Nelson rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 112 or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

If the past is any indication, Nelson could be in store for another big game when he takes on Peoria Heights on Friday. When Nelson last faced Peoria Heights back in September of 2023, he rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.

Seth Jones posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns.

On the season, Jones has averaged 98.3 passing yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after seven games last season, he had one rushing touchdown. This year he is already up to nine.
