Baseball Recap: Lafayette Picks Up 11th Consecutive Win

It's playoff time, and Lafayette had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the South Jones Braves by a score of 9-6 on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Commodores as they're now sitting on 11 straight.

Lafayette got a great performance from Brett Williams as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Williams has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lafayette let Landon Cobbs and Collin Waldrip run wild. Cobbs went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Waldrip went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Waldrip has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Guest, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Lafayette kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Lafayette's win bumped their record up to 27-8. As for South Jones, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 30-9.

As of now, neither Lafayette nor the Braves have any future games scheduled.
