Football Recap: Avalon Eagles vs. Gholson
Avalon took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (and then some). They blew past Gholson 46-0 at home. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Josh Novak had a dynamite game for Avalon, rushing for 140 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 77 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes. Novak also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Avalon wouldn't let Gholson keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Jesus Aguilar was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. He didn't just play on offense: he also forced two fumbles and made seven total tackles.
Avalon will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Fruitvale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
