Volleyball Recap: Neenah Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Neenah waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Appleton East Patriots with a sharp 3-0 win. The Rockets not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 8th (when they won 3-0).

Neenah's got stronger as the match went on, holding Appleton East to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-15, 25-10.

Neenah got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Finley Kelley out in front who had seven digs and six aces. Those six aces gave Kelley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Lindgren, who had 15 digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Neenah was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Appleton East had strong showings from Opal Sparkman, who had nine digs and five assists, and Josie Heisler, who had two aces.

Neenah's record is now 12-9. As for Appleton East, they dropped their record down to 7-14 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Neenah will square off against Fond du Lac at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Appleton East, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Green Bay Preble on the 27th.
