Blacksburg and Landrum are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Blacksburg Wildcats challenge Landrum Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blacksburg has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Blacksburg came up short against Greenville H on Monday, falling 15-5.

Matty Cody made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Neal Thompson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Landrum). They put the hurt on Liberty with a sharp 19-5 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won four in a row.

Blacksburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Landrum, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Blacksburg skirted past Landrum 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Blacksburg repeat their success, or does Landrum have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
