Baseball Game Preview: De La Salle Meteors vs. St. Laurence Vikings

De La Salle is 0-10 against St. Laurence since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. De La Salle will head out on the road to challenge St. Laurence at 4:30 p.m. De La Salle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, De La Salle earned a 6-2 win over Chicago Washington. The Meteors haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Oisin Curry looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Francisco Rodriguez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenaro Negron, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, St. Laurence has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging three runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They came up short against Hewitt-Trussville, falling 11-1. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

De La Salle's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Laurence, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

De La Salle suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to St. Laurence in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can De La Salle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
