4A Region II District 13 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Lovejoy extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region II District 13 this week by beating Wylie, 47-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Leopards.
Denison moved up to 607 from 662 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Yellowjackets were able to make the jump by beating the Yellowjackets 57-36.
Royse City's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jackson Watts threw for 45 yards and Michael Webb had 36 yards receiving. On the ground Samuell Rushing chipped in 148 yards. Jake Glisch helped Royse City's passing attack out by catching one ball for nine yards.
Sherman's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bearcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dru Smith has thrown for 1114 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Jt Luper has 21 catches for 362 yards. Tre Mask leads the league in rushing with 399 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Region II District 13 this week will be when the Pirates take on Wylie East. At the moment, Wylie is in fifth, while the Raiders are in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Greenville takes on Lovejoy. The Lions have allowed 85 points this season, while Matt Green's team has given up 75. Greenville allowed 21 points last week as it fell to the Bulldogs.
Denison made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,207 from 7,027. The advance stemmed from a 57-36 victory over Cody White's team last week.
