4A Region 5 recap October 8, 2013
Box Elder's Breckin Gunter recorded the longest rushing play in 4A Region 5 this season in his game against Bonneville last week. Gunter scampered for 72 yards on the play and finished with 142 on the day as his team bested the Lakers.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Logan beat Sky View 52-21. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Chase Nelson threw for 249 yards and 6 touchdowns. He went 23-36 with 0 interceptions.
Casey Coe made the biggest impact on defense this week as Logan beat the Bobcats. The 6-foot-3 defensive lineman forced 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Nelson put up the best numbers in passing as Mike Favero's team defeated Sky View. Nelson's favorite target this week was Chad Artist, who caught 5 passes for 87 yards.
Logan's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Grizzlies feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nelson has thrown for 2,189 yards and 30 touchdowns this season, while Taylor Compton has 58 catches for 841 yards. Nelson also leads the league in rushing with 761 yards.
The most important game in 4A Region 5 this week will be the match up between Craig Anhder's team and Box Elder. The Bobcats enters the contest ranked 20th in the state, while Robbie Gunter's team ranks 25th.
Mountain Crest fell to East 53-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
