Delta is 1-7 against South Sevier since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Delta Rabbits will square off against the South Sevier Rams at 11:00 a.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Delta 1, South Sevier 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
South Sevier will be up against a hot Delta squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Delta walked away with a 5-2 victory over Parowan on Saturday. While the Rabbits didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Hunt Roninson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Delta saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Nielson, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Another was Ty Stefanoff, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Sevier). Everything went their way against Parowan on Wednesday as South Sevier made off with an 18-6 win. The victory continues a trend for South Sevier in their matchups with Parowan: they've now won nine in a row.
Jax Christiansen looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryker Freeman, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Bigs Northrup was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-5.
South Sevier's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Delta, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Delta couldn't quite get it done against South Sevier when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 10-5. Can Delta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
