Baseball Recap: Monroe Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Monroe Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Cameron Dragons 8-7. The win was some much needed relief for the Seminoles as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Ryder Muntz tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Monroe Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Prestin Binegar was incredible, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Monroe Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Caleb Griffith, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Monroe Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Monroe Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Cameron, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-11.

Coming up, Monroe Central is taking a road trip to square off against Barnesville at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cameron does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
