Basketball Recap: Monroeville Comes Up Short

Monroeville was the 42-37 winner over Western Reserve when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles took a 48-34 bruising from the Roughriders on Friday.

Monroeville has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Western Reserve, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroeville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Mary Central Catholic at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 29.4 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them. Western Reserve will take on St. Paul in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
