Baseball Recap: Hamilton County Comes Up Short

Hamilton County extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 5-16-1. They lost 14-3 to the Benton Rangers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Foxes of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Hamilton County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Karcher, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Another was Austin Karcher, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

As for Benton, their record now sits at 11-15. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 17-4).

On Benton's side, the team relied heavily on Drake Porter, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylin Mcclanahan, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton County will face off against Zeigler-Royalton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Benton, they will take on Goreville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
