Basketball Recap: Palmetto Ridge Piles Up the Points Against Mariner

There's no place like home for Palmetto Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the Mariner Tritons 89-56 on Wednesday. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Tritons are ranked 710th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palmetto Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Juju Castillo out in front who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. Castillo has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaydon Soto, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten boards, and 14 assists.

Palmetto Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Mariner, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-22.

Palmetto Ridge has already played their next match, a 58-37 victory against Oasis on the 30th. Mariner has also already played their next contest (against North Fort Myers), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
