Basketball Recap: Beaufort Takes a Loss

Beaufort was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 61-53 to the Colleton County Cougars. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Beaufort lost, don't look at Amani Cleckley. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 12 on his way to 18 points and three steals. That's the most points Cleckley has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Qualeek Isnar, who posted four points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Beaufort smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Leading Colleton County to victory were Robert Parks and Jaqueas Martin. Parks had 15 points and six rebounds, while Martin earned 13 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Da'Veon Varner, who put up 15 points.

Beaufort's record is now 1-11. As for Colleton County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Beaufort will host Bishop England at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Bishop England's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for Colleton County, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Colleton County Cougars face off against the Bluffton Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Colleton County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.
