Lowndes gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Lowndes got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 23-25, 15-9.

Lowndes can attribute much of their success to Natalie Kolb, who had ten digs and eight assists.

Lowndes was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thomas County Central only served eight aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Thomas County Central fell to 2-1.

Lowndes has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Perry on the 9th. As for Thomas County Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Colquitt County on the 9th.
