Filer is 2-8 against Gooding since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Senators at 4:00 p.m. Filer has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Filer is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Kimberly, falling 21-11. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly ten runs.

Bridger Phillips was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Filer's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-12 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Brett Paxton was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Aydyn Burns, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Gooding came out on top against Declo on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Senators put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 8-1 victory. The Senators not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22nd (when they won 10-0).
Like Filer, Gooding also got a great game from a two-way player: Eli Esterbrook. On the mound, Esterbrook struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Evan Mendoza kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Esterbrook went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Mendoza went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cougar Stockham, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Cason Page, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Gooding was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Declo only posted a batting average of .167.
The win got Gooding back to even at 8-8. As for Filer, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
