Football Recap: San Diego Takes a Loss

San Diego extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Oso Bears. The contest was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Vaqueros couldn't quite close it out.

As for West Oso, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.7 points on average this season.

A big part of West Oso's victory came down to the chemistry between Ryan Guerrero and his top target Joseph Perez. Guerrero rushed for 136 yards and one score while Perez picked up 48 receiving yards and one TD. Those 136 rushing yards gave Guerrero a new career-high.

Coming up, San Diego will be playing at home against Rio Hondo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vaqueros will need to watch out since the Bobcats have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for West Oso, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Palacios at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. This will be the Bears' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
